Seeking to get passersby to focus on “woodland bioacoustics,” since every tree sounds different, Georg Dietzler created particular seating spots on sites that inspire him to “stop and think.” He called these sites “Setzlinge: Orte für Waldstudien” (2018). As it turns out the German word “setzlinge” means both seating and seedling, so Dietzler envisions sitters as seeds, sprouting in the woods, and growing up, newly informed by rich experiences in the Bessunger Forest.
