Golec + Czekalska "Homo Anobium. Św Francisek 100% rzeźby 1680-1985" (2006), Maura Biava "Iride's Diary" (1998)
Czekalska + Golec co-created these sculptures (originally church boisserie) with woodworms, who had eaten so much that their former owner deemed them useless as religious sculpture. The artists, who often collaborate with animals on art, value the woodworms' work, in particular their having selected Francis of Assisi. Their artworks either highlight animals' livelihoods independent of human beings or serve to protect animals' lives. With Iride's Diary, Maura Biava surrounds a scientist's first-person account of her life with hand-drawn and photographed flower portraits.
